Yes. A good rule to remember is that EVERY time you take power from the battery source, you should always install a fuse between the battery and the appliance you are powering.

The fuse should be located on the positive line, as close to the battery's positive terminal as possible. The size of the fuse should be larger than the appliance total draw. For instance: If you are installing a water pump with an average power draw of approx. 8 Amps per hour, then you should look to install a fuse approx. 15 Amps in capacity to account for heat, loss of efficiency, surge capacity of the appliance.
