How to wire LED portable lighting through a switch? 

Connecting your 12 volt lights through a switch is simple. The LED light will have both a positive and negative wire, usually these wires will connect directly to a battery; however, when you are wiring in a 12 volt switch, you will need following the steps below: 

1. The negative wire from the 12v led work light will connect directly to the negative terminal of the battery. 
2. The positive wire from the 12v light will connect to one side of the switch. The remaining side of the switch will then feed to the positive terminal of the battery. 
3. Note: It is always recommended to have a fuse in line of the positive cable, positioned closest to the battery terminal as possible.

What size cable is suitable for LED lighting? 

12V LED lights draw a very minimal power. It does, however, depend on the length of the cable ran from your battery to the 12v lights. The most common size cable to run for the use of LED lighting is usually between a 2mm, 3mm or 4mm twin core automotive cable.

How many amps do 12 volt led light draw? 

The amp draw of LED 12V work lights vary across the make and model. The average LED light will draw less than 1 Amp per every hour of use and in many cases, it is as low as even 0.5Amp draw! 

The low amp draw will allow you the ability to run your work lights for multiple hours on a battery system with extremely limited power drain!
