When should I fuse my installation?
The basic rule of thumb is every time you install a power feed from your battery, a fuse should be installed, closest to the battery as possible (installed on the positive line).
The battery is a power source. The battery will provide power to any feed (power line) that is run from it. Without the use a fuse / circuit breaker installed in the line, then the user will run the risk of fire hazards / melting down cables from the result of a dead short / overload.
Fuses protect the system. If a fuse is installed and a problem does arise from the result of a dead-short or overload, then the fuse will blow and will protect the line and all appliances on this line.
How do I install a fuse?
With many systems, it is as easy fitting the fuse in line of the positive cable that is feeding from the battery to the appliance. The fuse should always be located as close to the power source (the battery) as possible. If you are in doubt of how to install a fuse / protection for your system, we encourage you to contact our staff directly on 08 8391 3121 so we can hep to advise the correct method.
What is a distribution panel?
A distribution panel is a simple way of creating multiple power feeds from a battery. Usually the system would include one main feed to the distribution panel (fused closest to the battery), then from the distribution panel, multiple power feeds will run to all appliances.
